The 15th annual St George’s Beer Festival will be held between April 25-28, 2019 at the St Deny’s Church rooms next to the Market Place in Sleaford. Always a very popular event, the Thursday evening will primarily be a sponsors evening, but it is also open to the general public. A full day of drinking will be available on both the Friday and Saturday with music provided on Saturday evening. The Sunday lunchtime slot will be used to ‘finish up’ and it is expected that the full range of beers and ciders will not be available as once the barrel is gone – it’s gone!
Profits from the event will mainly be directed to needy causes in the local area and other Rotary charities across the world.
Examples of local charities that have benefited from the weekend in the past include:
Lincolnshire Emergency Medical Response (LEMR)
SSAFA (Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen and Families Association
British Heart Foundation and Prostate Cancer UK
North Hykeham ‘Sailability’ – sailing for the disabled
Regular sponsorship of a disabled person’s place at ‘The Calvert Trust’, an Outward Bounds respite centre in the Lake District for disabled young people
Sleaford’s St Denys’ Church Hall maintenance, including a new cooker range which was installed during autumn 2016, plus a new television which was installed in early 2019.
Local youth projects including equipment for an after-school gardening club, primary school environmental projects, a pre-school vegetable garden, ‘Youth Speaks’ competition for local senior schools and helping to sponsor a personal development project for a secondary school pupil.
Previous events have been held at a number of venues in the area including: Sleaford Rugby Club, Holdingham, East Road and the Mabern Club before moving to the St Deny’s Church rooms a few years ago.
We would like to thank all our sponsors for their generousity in enabling us to provide the wide range of beers, lagers and ciders. For a full list see the link below.
